Fashion People
Paris is famous for being the city of fashion. I was always interesting to discover the fashion world in the town where I have been living for more than 12 years. I learnt that it is very difficult to get introduced into this society because it is so exclusive. For me, the fashion world has a fascination. It appears also more foreign to me than most Asian or African ethnic groups I have met during my travels.
FraFra
As an anthropologist, I did field research in a village in Ghana. For my work, I used pictures of people to structure interviews. The pictures shown are scans of photos developed locally. The Ghanaians prefer their photos overexposed to make the faces appear less black. When I look at those pictures today, I think that they have an historical touch. I wished to go back and meet again these extraordinary people who are called FraFra.
Simply there
Salomon loves music, cars and trains. Life feels best for him when it is repetitive and simple. In photography handicapped people are either illustrated as pitiful creatures or as happy smiling kids who are happy to receive your donation. I tried to show Salomon in a different more neutral way giving him the chance to be seen as he is.
